BETTY'S LETTER

PLEASE READ

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

OCT. 25, 2008

To all judges “UP NORTH,”

It’s hard to believe but North Judges’ Cup is right around the corner and we need to try to get as many cases of pop and water donated to the meet as possible.   As you know, we have about 250 fewer gymnasts in the meet, which is why there is no Fri. night session.  This is a lot of lost profit, which translates into less money in your professional benefits, so we need to have a very profitable concession stand! If all the judges could bring cases of pop or water for Judges’ Cup, it will be a tremendous boost financially, which in turn will come back to our judges.

If you are buying pop, UIC is only allowed to sell Pepsi products. But any other brands of pop are fine to bring and we will use them in the Hospitality Room for Judges and Coaches.  DON’T WORRY ABOUT HOW YOU WILL CARRY IN YOUR CASES OF POP & WATER to the meet.  We will have UIC Team gymnasts out in front of the PE building ready to carry in your pop and water both mornings.

Also, if you would like to make a dessert for the Hospitality room, it would be greatly appreciated.  We’ve “set the bar” very high in the Hosp. room with such great food, so we hope to keep up this reputation! And the UIC gymnasts will be happy to carry in the desserts for you as well.

If you are not able to come and help at the North Cup, we would still be very appreciative of anything you could donate, so if you will see any judge on the board at an upcoming meet, or you live or work close to one of them who is judging at the Cup, you are welcome to drop off your donations to everyone but Kathie Gebhardt and Cathy Peebles (they will not be at the Cup). Just call any board member to figure out how, where, and when you want to drop anything off for the meet.

We also need runners and flashers, so for any of you who have children, gymnasts, or siblings of gymnasts who could help at any session, we’d be very grateful! We give them a coupon for a sandwich, chips, and a drink that can be redeemed at the conc. stand any time, so they won’t go hungry, and their help will certainly make the meet run more efficiently! We are running the meet on a very limited number of judges, so we can’t afford to use a judge as a flasher!

And, PARKING INFO: Jeanne will give UIC a master list of judges’ names and when you pull into the parking lot, just give them your name, and you will not have to pay. Jeanne will get a head count from UIC and she will pay the $8 per person with one check. This beats having to give Cyndi a receipt to get reimbursed!!

THAT’S IT FOR NOW! AS SOON AS I GET THE SESSION LEVELS & TIMES, I’LL BE ABLE TO WORK ON THE MEET ASSIGNMENTS AND GET THEM TO SAINT SUE BROSNAN who then puts them on Excel and makes it easy for you to read!
